Es Mercadal, Balearic Islands: Location and surroundings of this property

This property is located in Es Mercadal, on the road to the exclusive new development of Coves Noves II, in the northeast of the island, close to Arenal d'en Castell beach, one of the most beautiful on the island and offering all amenities. It is 1.5 kilometers from the beautiful port of Addaia and 1.8 kilometers from the Son Parc golf course .

Es Mercadal is the geographic centre of the island, founded during the Reconquista period. Its urban core is concentrated around the church of Sant Martí and the old mill, now converted into a restaurant. Its streets, lined with low houses and a simple aesthetic, reveal a town of rural and traditional origins.

Here you'll find the Cas Sucrer shop, selling the island's quintessential artisanal sweets, craft shops, stores selling local products, and restaurants serving traditional Menorcan cuisine. Also worth a visit is El Aljub, an impressive cistern built during British rule to store rainwater. You can also climb the mysterious El Toro mountain, which may have Arabic origins and means "highest point." At its summit, you'll discover a 14th-century sanctuary and square tower, as well as an exceptional panoramic view of the island. The Menorcan plains offer a view of its entire expanse on clear days.

Mercadal is the ideal starting point for the island's main water sports centre : Fornells.
