Gracia, along with neighboring St Gervasi and Sarria, is one of the small original towns that became incorporated into Barcelona as the city expanded in the 1890s.
Like the other older parts of the town, Gracia is crisscrossed by several narrow one-way streets and has at its heart many beautiful old Plazas – perfect for people watching and enjoying long summer evenings. Some of the best are Plaza del Sol and Plaza Revolucion.
Characterized by a slightly different and bohemian feel from much of the rest of the centre of Barcelona, Gracia has a wealth of funky bars, restaurants, galleries, and local markets scattered throughout the barrio and along the main thoroughfare – Gran de Gracia - which continues off Paseo de Gracia.
In August the area is taken over by the Gracia Festivals where many of the streets are decorated in a competition between neighborhoods and the streets are full of people dancing and partying through the night. Local transport links are good in the center of Gracia, with buses and metro lines running up Gran de Gracia.
Gracia property for sale mainly consists of apartments and penthouses, many of which have original features but there are also some houses for sale in the northern part of Gracia - Vallcarca and the area around Parc Guell.
