El Porvenir sits on the old Huerta de Zambrano, one of the many kitchen gardens that were located around the Hermitage of San Sebastián. During the years prior to the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, the old orchard was divided up and the construction of a series of villas was carried out. The task was entrusted to architects of the stature of Vicente Traver, Juan Talavera or Aníbal González himself, names that went down in the history of a style that has marked the personality of the city: Regionalism.
As a result of the above, El Porvenir has become known as the most regionalist neighbourhood in Seville. An architectural style that was born as a variant of modernism, seeking to highlight the artistic identity of the regions in the constructions. In the case of Seville and its main author, Aníbal González (architect director of the Ibero-American Exhibition), the neo-Mudejar style is found, recovering the ceramic tile as a decorative element.
