Memorable villa, an example of brutalist architecture from the 60s, adapted to the topography and influenced by Japanese architecture and the legacy of the Alhambra.
Lucas Fox is pleased to present this wonderful unique house, with endless architectural details, large open spaces and an interesting combination of materials and textures used, predominately concrete. We invite you to explore its spaces through this description, which compiles the owner's impressions of the house, who was lucky enough to experience it for the last 25 years, and which she depicts in her book: Miradas Cruzadas.
The first image that we find on entering the plot is a sequence of concrete volumes in the foreground, in a natural environment that not only surrounds them but seems to interweave with the construction. The image faithfully reflects the first decision of the project: to transform the land using architecture in combination with nature.
The house itself seemed to reveal that desire to belong to this land with the need to connect to the place with a perfect adaptation to the topography with the different surfaces of the ground.
To access the house, mid-height walls lead downwards until you discover the door of beautiful carved cubist shapes that opens to another world, to another reality on the opposite side. A beautiful patio welcomes you in the middle of the wide space and a dynamic flow begins that configures movement forward in the shape of an eight, around two perforated patios that act as light wells. There are several routes linking the three areas of the house (parents, children and kitchen area) but also in the south-north direction (from the meadow between houses to the geometric garden).
From the very entrance of the house you can glimpse its complexity and spatial richness, with the patio that finds you and the three steps that lead you to the living room whose panoramic window takes you almost from the entrance to the outside, to the terrace with a fountain and fire, that advances as a solid basement of the house in the middle of the garden. Nature enters and leaves the house, it is like an echo. One is in and out in one step.
On the other side of the entrance there is a mural with integrated furniture and the access to the kitchen, it is always ready to take out food in beautiful trays decorated with brocades to serve the guests who come continuously.
The second patio is more private and slightly more spacious. It overlooks the open but higher dining room, also being the area for adults and children connected by a beautiful corridor with vaulted windows that reveal the garden and patio on one side and the other.
The house fits into the land in an organic way, in a continuous and natural flow, blurring the line between inside and outside. The materials always linked to the earth in ceramic or stone flooring, or concrete walls with wooden plank formwork.
Fifty years later, the Somosaguas house has not been forgotten. Today students and architects continue to visit it. They are already history.
Alberto Campo Baeza quotes: "A house, the Carvajal de Somosaguas house, which is a true jewel of modern Spanish architecture that must be preserved and kept alive. If Paul Valéry in his Eupalinos said that there were silent architectures, architectures that speak and architectures that sing, this Casa Carvajal de Somosaguas sings, sings with its own most beautiful song."

It has perimeter fencing, license plate reading and Prosegur security personnel, as well as motorized patrols that circulate to protect the safety and privacy of the neighbours.
The development is part of the Madrid municipality of Pozuelo de Alarcón, just 8 kilometres from the capital. This municipality has the highest income per capita income in Spain and the highest birth rate in Spain, which makes it ideal for families with high purchasing power looking for a high-level first residence.
The area benefits from excellent infrastructure and public transport, with buses and light rail, as well as by road with access to the M-502, the M-503, the A-6, the A-5 and the M- 40.
In its vicinity are the best schools in Madrid, such as the British Council, the American School, the San Luis de los Franceses or the Retamar, as well as several universities such as the Complutense University of Madrid, the ESIC Business and Marketing School or the University Francisco de Vitoria.
It also offers all kinds of services: sports clubs, such as the Reebok Sports Club; exclusive restaurants, such as the famous Urrechu in the Somosaguas Souk; and tapas bars on Avenida de Europa.
Undoubtedly one of the best areas to reside, a few minutes from the centre of the capital.
