Location

Gran Alacant is a large residential location, mostly filled with housing developments. Located on a hillside close to the white sand beaches. The area is just 15 kilometres south of Alicante and about 10 minutes' drive from the international airport.

There is a public school located in Gran Alacant called Público Doña Vicenta Ruso. There are some great international schools located around Gran Alacant, within 10-20 km distance. They are Kings college (Elche), Colegio Aitana, Newton college and others.

There is a big range of international restaurants to be found in the area, serving menus influenced by flavours from the all over the world.

All major supermarkets, such as Mercadona, Lidl, Consum and others located in Gran Alacant. Furniture stores, pharmacies and other services and stores can be found in Gran Alacant and a nearby local towns. Shopping malls located in Alicante, Elche and Murcia. Once a week, on Thursday morning, local farmers bring their own fruits and vegetables for the market.

Carabassi beach is about 4 kilometres long and feels wild and natural and backed by a pine tree forest. The beaches of Santa Pola and Arenales del Sol are also close by.

In Santa Pola, which is 10 minutes' drive from Gran Alacant, we find one of the biggest fishing ports on the Mediterranean. Here you will find some excellent fish restaurants serving the local ‘catch of the day’. An absolute must is a trip to the Isla de la Tabarca, which was made a national Marine Reserve in 1986. The crystal clear waters and the fauna and flora, make it an authentic paradise. If you drive a little bit further you could visit Salinas watching the impressive salt water lakes which produce about 700,000 tonnes of salt each year, or even see flamingos and you can watch spectacular sunsets.

Gran Alacant is a lovely little base to live in or enjoy a holiday with the family, golfing buddies, walkers, nature lovers. It is easy to get around and has a charming, cosmopolitan feel.
