A Modern Development in a Classic Eixample Neighbourhood

Lane Auten of ARC Properties, the developer behind the exclusive New Development AM49, talks to us about these desirable residences.

LF: What for you makes the AM49 different from other New Developments in Barcelona?

LA: AM49 is a modern development in a classic Eixample neighbourhood.  This modernity comes with several advantages: sleek design, spacious layout and outstanding quality finishes as well as the rarity of private in-building parking.

LF: How do you think AM49 reflects today’s values?

LA: There is a trend in luxury real estate towards lifestyle-focused living. Your home should not be a museum or high maintenance – it should correspond with your lifestyle with simple elegance and fantastic amenities.

We believe AM49 has it all from that perspective: beautiful design, top finishings, stylish comfort and Barcelona on your doorstep!

LF: Who do you think the residences will appeal to?

LA: They appeal to people searching for design, comfort and elegance in their home. An island of tranquility and style with access to everything on offer in Barcelona.

LF: GCA are the architectural firm behind the project. What do you think their stand-out qualities are?

LA: It has been such an honour to work with GCA – the architects of many landmark buildings in Barcelona. They “stand out” from others because of their commitment to design quality with an impressive attention to detail. They have designed truly elegant and luxurious apartments, façade and community spaces which stand out from the pack and speak for themselves.

LF: How did you decide on the layout of the units?

LA: When we first walked into the building, we knew we had to find a way to retain an open living area stretching across the width of the building. Side-to-side and entrance-to-window, openness in both directions.

From this fundamental principle came the bespoke central kitchen. This element meant we could deliver that spaciousness with a focus on integrated living and separate day and night areas, allowing for some flexibility and customisation as well.

LF: Tell us a bit about the kitchens, the design and the finishes?

LA: As you can tell, we are really excited about the kitchens! First of all, working directly with a group like Bulthaup in Germany has been quite an experience. When you go to their factory near Munich and work with their design team as we have, you really understand what commitment to quality is all about!

The focus of the design was to create an open-plan kitchen / living area with the option to close off the space. We achieved this through clever hiding mechanisms. This Bulthaup bespoke design is truly unique and will actually be released to the public next year in Milan as part of their new design accessory line.

LF: For those unfamiliar with Ausiàs March street and its surrounding areas, what are its most appealing attributes?

LA: AM49 is located in what we describe here at ARC as the “Golden Square” in Barcelona.  This neighborhood is called Right Eixample which has been enjoying a major revival over the past few years. Fantastic bars, restaurants and shopping just outside your door.

LF: Why do people love this area?

LA: Again, great location! You are in the Eixample, but also close to the Old City, beach and Paseo de Gracia, while avoiding the traffic and tourist-craziness of these areas. And from your private parking, you can drive easily to the many nearby beach villages, mountains and wine country.
