With over 60 exhibitors from foreign institutions, companies, schools associations and clubs, Barcelona International Community Day, now in its fourth year, is a meeting point for the city’s burgeoning foreign community. Last year the event attracted more than 4,000 participants from a total of 105 countries.
The number of foreigners choosing to live in Barcelona has grown significantly in recent years. According to the Padron Municipal there are around 280,000 foreign residents now living in the city, almost a fifth of the total population.
Demand for property in Barcelona, particularly from the international community, continues to follow an upward trend. Lucas Fox registered an annual growth rate of 42% in the number of sales sold in the first 6 months of 2017 compared to the same period in 2016. Foreign buyers, attracted by the city’s numerous lifestyle benefits and investment potential, represented 62% of the total sales in the first half of 2017.
But it is not only sales where the increases are significant, as demand for rental properties is also on the increase. Lucas Fox data showed an annual growth of 150% by the end of June 2017 of properties rented in Barcelona, with the most sought-after areas being in the Eixample, the Zona Alta and the Old Town. 74% of those renting in the first half of 2017 were from outside of Spain.
“Lucas Fox offers an exceptional service to both those seeking a rental property and those looking to rent out their properties, thanks to our Property Management Service which helps landlords from the initial set-up after buying a home to a range of management services, making the whole process hassle-free.”
