Hotspots 2016: Lucas Fox Marbella Partner on Estepona

We’ve singled out Estepona as a hotspot for 2016. Lucas Fox Marbella partner Stephen Lahiri shares his thoughts on the charming region on the Costa del Sol, offering great value for money

The district of Estepona includes the beautiful New Golden Mile which refers to the Costa del Sol coastline extending after Puerto Banus: from San Pedro del Alcantara to Estepona Town. Properties along this stretch of coastline offer a sense of prestige and luxury, with new builds offering the highest quality finishes, a select range of high-end features, and the latest design and lifestyle characteristics. Properties for sale along the New Golden Mile also offer stunning, panoramic sea views.

Originally a quiet fishing village, Estepona Town is a charming beach-front community offering white-washed houses and a distinctly Spanish feel. The area boasts an excellent year-round sunny climate, as well as 21 kilometres of magnificent coastline, dotted with coveted luxury properties ranging from more traditional or modern apartments to spacious houses and exclusive villas.

The charming town of Estepona has succeeded in maintaining its ‘pueblo’ appeal and character, yet offers all facilities such as fantastic beaches, hotels, quaint shops, supermarkets and restaurants serving traditional spanish fayre along its cobbled, narrow streets. One of its key attractions is that you are walking distance to almost everything.

Estepona also has a long Paseo Maritimo , a buzzing port as well as some excellent golf courses. Property-wise, the area provides good value for money when you compare it to the likes of Marbella – there are some very attractive re-sale homes around in the town of Estepona itself but we are also seeing the construction of some great luxury projects along the coast to the east and west of the town such as the Puerto De Estepona near the H10 Estepona Palace and Dominion Beach with many more are planned over the next 12 months or so, which will really put the area on the map.

Along the New Golden Mile, there are almost no high rise buildings and also nothing built right on top of the beach unlike other areas of the Costa del Sol. Here you do need a car to get to places but again, we are seeing some interesting luxury developments, including close to the 5-star Kempinkski hotel resort and Puro beach club.
