Mallorca Area description

Mallorca is the largest island of Spain. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea and part of the Balearic Islands.

The centre of Majorca comprises two mountainous regions-  the Tramuntana range. The northeast coast comprises two large bays: the Badia de Pollença and the larger Badia d'Alcúdia. The northern coast is generally rugged and has many cliffs. The central zone extending from the capital city of Palma is generally flat fertile plain known as Es Pla.

The climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters and hot, dry summers.

Majorca is a well-known tourist destination, and the tourism business has become the main source of revenue for the island. More than half of the population works in the tourist sector, which accounts for approximately 80% of Majorca’s GDP.

Mallorca and Menorca are the perfect holiday islands, located in the midst of the turquoise Mediterranean Sea and benefiting from hundreds of kilometers of coastline, secluded rocky coves and wide sandy beaches, a vibrant and sophisticated capital city, some 300 days of brilliant sunshine each year and a vast choice of accommodation and flights.

The landscape is extremely varied and nature enthusiasts have endless possibilities to choose from. Yachting facilities on the islands are unrivalled throughout Southern Europe.
