Property description

The island is set in the lateral-middle of the Fornells bay, which belongs to Mercadal town council.

The Sargantanas Island is part of a cluster of another two adjecent islands. The largest island is inhabitable, and it is for sale. The island has a total surface area of closer to 30,000 m². The island is shaped like an almond, and has a north/south orientation.

The island may be considered 'rustic'. Authorization must be obtained for restoration and planning. This includes permission for interior repairs, exterior building work and other smaller renovations.

The whole Fornells bay is classed as a Spanish natural park. This ensures the owner a heavenly landscape with an abundant flora/fauna, fantastic sunrises, sunsets and wonderful views in a extraordinary setting. See for yourself in our photos!

The island may be reached by both sea and air. The water purification area may be used as a helicopter landing pad. There is a harbour and mooring that allows direct access from the sea.

Features

The electricity comes from solar panels that have been producing electricity continuously for ten years.

The main house is 125 m²,  and is set on a 165 m² plot.

The castle has many inhabitable areas. Some of them have already been renovated, while other ones remain untouched. These are not described in the property registry. The consolidated ruin area may be used for new buildings.

The island has its own harbour where it is possbile to moor a ten metre yacht, and likely one that is slightly bigger.

Distribution

The main houses was originally constructed in 1800. It has been renovated within the last 20 years.

There is a terrace on the right going out from the house. This offers incredible views of the whole bay, and particularly enjoyable are both the day and night time skies and the fauna.

Between the terrace and the house there is a staircase that leads to an independent guest room or private room. This room has a large bathroom, plus beautiful sea views.

Below the stairway there is a great terrace with barbecue.

The other areas, inside and outside the castle, have not been measured. Some areas are perfectly inhabitable.

The castle is a national monument, and the construction is still sturdy. However, it requires a few updates to the entrance arch, and in the arms courtyard. Any exterior reform requires authorization.

Location and surroundings

The island is set one km away from Fornells harbour and around 30 km away from Mahón / Mao  airport; 12 km away from the ME-1 which crosses the island from one end to the other. This road permits a link to the biggest town of the island, Ciudadella.

Fornells and Mercadal towns and the island offers a lot of benefits, including commercial, cultural and medical, to ensure hihg standards of convenient and comfortable living.
